Max Kim
Hi, I’m Max. I am a mechanical engineer with a strong interest in robotics, autonomous systems, and control theory, with experience spanning control systems, mechatronics, and embedded software.
Focus Areas
- Robotics and autonomous systems
- Control systems and state estimation
- Physics-based simulation and system modeling
- Embedded systems and real-time software
Education
I earned my B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2023 and 2024. During my studies, I worked on projects that integrated mechanical, electrical, and software components to address complex engineering problems. Much of my work focused on system modeling, state estimation, and control, with an emphasis on translating theory into practical implementations.
Professional Work
Professionally, I work as a Control Engineer developing industrial automation and control software for live, safety-critical systems. In these environments, control correctness, deterministic behavior, and system uptime are non-negotiable. This experience has reinforced disciplined development practices, rigorous testing methodologies, and system-level debugging under real operational constraints.
Hobbies
Outside of work, I spend much of my time building projects to deepen my understanding of robotics and autonomous systems.
When I’m not debugging code or fixing broken hardware, I enjoy cooking and exploring new restaurants around the city. I’m a big foodie and love experimenting with new recipes and discovering hidden gems.
